What Happened To The ‘Dredd’ Sequel

In 2012, writer Alex Garland and director Pete Travis rebooted Judge Dredd for the screen. Starring Karl Urban in the leading role, Dredd is an excellent adaptation that embraces the comics’ excessive violence, deadpan humour and grit.

Dredd was praised by fans and critics alike upon release, but the film barely recouped its production budget during its theatrical run. And when you factor in the additional marketing and distribution costs, Dredd was a flop.

But in the years that followed, the film gained a loyal fan base and became a success on home media. So much so that a sequel was discussed on numerous occasions. Unfortunately, it never came to fruition.
